In the romantic comedy investigative action series about a conspiracy involving a hefty sum of money going missing in times of the Korean War 60 years ago, Rain plays Gee-woo, a private detective at an international secret agency who becomes pegged as the murderer of his own old friend.

“Lee Jung-jin and my relationship is that of a chaser and the chased so we really ran a lot… I’ve done a lifetime’s worth of running,” the singer and actor told media outlets during a press conference for the drama held in Seoul on Monday.

08.12.10 [MyDaily] How has the all-star cast of Runaway starring Rain been accomplished?

by jax625

Interest in upcoming drama Runaway with only a month to go before the broadcast, goes well beyond imagination. The spark of its all-star cast was stars’ faith in the drama and their expectations for it.

Rain’s agent said, “Rain expressed satisfaction with the outstanding part of this drama that is its well-organized plot. He seemed to think that there wouldn’t be any problem at all regarding making his comeback on the drama since he is back from a long break.”

When such a top star decided to appear in the drama, there was a synergy that happened to get many others stars at home and abroad wanting to appear in it.

Runaway officials said, “We guess they’ve shown interest in their appearances in the drama as Korean dramas are in the spotlight in Asian markets under the influence of the Korean Wave.

07.05.10 [News] Uehara Takako romances Rain in ‘Runaway’

by jax625

To correspond with its foreign locales, KBS’s Runaway is also bringing onboard some name foreign actors, such as Japanese singer Uehara Takako, who will have a romantic loveline with Rain. She’ll play a top singer named Kieko who shares a “sad love” with his character.

In the ’90s, Uehara was a member of girl group Speed while she was just a young teen; the group disbanded in 2000 when she was 17, after which she went solo. Among other things, she appeared in the Japanese drama Koi no kara Sawagi (Much Ado About Love) Drama Special, which also featured Ryu Shi-won (Style).

Meanwhile, another well-known Japanese actor has been cast to play her father, a powerful figure in the yakuza underworld: Takenaka Naoto, whose projects include Tokyo Tower and Nodame Cantabile.

The drama, which airs in late September, has been beefing up its ranks with a solid cast that includes the likes of Lee Na-young, Lee Jung-jin, Daniel Henney, Yoon Jin-seo, Sung Dong-il, Jo Hee-bong, and Gong Hyung-jin. Let’s hope its story can keep up.
